1. How do I check the email on a pop3? |
|
You can check your pop3, by setting up the pop3 in your favorite email program such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Thunderbird, Eudora etc.
Your pop3 server name will be mail. yourdomain.com .
Pop3 email can also be checked by webmail. Your webmail interface is located at:
http://webmail. yourdomain.com /

2.
How do I create a forwarder/email alias?
|
|
To create a forwarder:
Log into your Control Panel.
In the Control Panel, click on ' Forwarders ' under the E-mail heading.
Enter the first part of the email address you wish to create--the part before @yourdomain.com--in the box on the left, and the email address you would like to forward-to, in the box on the right (the box with the arrow pointing to it). You will receive the forwarded email at the address you entered, in the right hand box.
If you would like to forward the email to an address @yourdomain.com, use only the login name, rather than the full email address.
Note: A forwarder and a Pop3 account cannot co-exist, with the same name.

3. How do I create an email account (Pop3)? |
|
To create a pop3:
Log into your Control Panel.
From the Control Panel, click on ' Accounts ' under the E-mail heading.
Enter the e-mail address you wish to create, and a password.
The system will assign you a unique login name.
Use the login name and password to setup the pop3, in your favorite email program.
Note: We recommend that you write down the email account login and pass somewhere safe, so that you have a written backup of the login details.

4. How do I set my main address or catch-all email? |
|
By default, your main address is set to your main login name. This allows you to use your catch-all email as a pop3, by logging into it with your admin login/pass. If you don't have any email accounts, forwarders, or auto-responders set up, all email will be delivered to your catch-all.
To change the catch-all, log into your Control Panel and click ' Main Address ' under the E-mail heading.
If you would like to forward all the "caught" email to another pop3 login that you have setup, put that login name in the main address field, and click ' Set Main Address '. You should not enter the full e-mail address, only enter the login name if you're forwarding to local email accounts.
If you would like to forward all the "caught" mail to an email address not within your domain (i.e. @hotmail.com, @sbcglobal.com, @gmail.com) put the full email address in the field, and press ' set main address '. This will forward all the "caught" mail to the address you entered as the main address.
Note: The main address can also be turned off, by saving a blank entry as the main address. This helps if you don't want to receive any mail for your domain, or if you only want to receive mail addressed to existing accounts (pop3, forwarders, auto-responders) only.

5. I can receive email, but I can't send. What's wrong? |
|
Some ISP s (internet service providers like Etisalat) will block port 25 (the sendmail port) to off-network host connections. They will sometimes do this randomly, and it causes any connection for SMTP that isn't through their own servers to be rejected. We've created an alternative port, in case you run into this problem. In your mail program, change your 'Outgoing (SMTP)' port from 25 to 587 .

6. What is a catch-all email and a 'main address'? |
|
A catch-all email--also known as your main address--"catches" all email sent to email addresses in your domain that don't exist as an email account, forwarder, or auto-responder.
Example: You set your main address to bob@hotmail.com. You also setup a pop3 for sales@yourdomain.com. Email sent to sales@yourdomain.com will be delivered to your pop3 'sales', which you have to log into with your unique login/pass for the sales@ email account. However, all other email such as mail to coolguy@yourdomain.com, superman@yourdomain.com, etc. will be forwarded to bob@hotmail.com.
By default, your main address is set to your admin login name. This allows you to use your catch-all email as a pop3. If you leave it using the default setting, you just log into it with your admin login/pass.
Note: You can also turn off the catch-all feature, by logging into your control panel, clicking ' Main Address ' and saving a blank entry as the main address.

7. What is a forwarder/email alias? |
|
A forwarder, or e-mail alias, is an email address that forwards to a different email account.
Example: If you have bob@aol.com, you can create a forwarder in your control panel that would forward all the email that's sent to bob@ yourdomain.com to be delivered to bob@aol.com. You can forward email from any email address at your domain to any other e-mail address, or even to addresses within your domain.
To forward all email that's sent to non-existent addresses @ yourdomain.com to a specific address, setup your catchall email (listed as the 'main address' in your control panel) with that address.

|
8. What is an auto-responder? |
|
An auto-responder automatically responds with an email you've created, to anyone who emails it.
Example: If you setup bob@yourdomain.com to auto-respond with the text "Bob is cool", anyone who emails bob@yourdomain.com will receive an email back that says, "Bob is cool."
Note: The email sent to the autoresponder will not be delivered anywhere if the CC field is not set up properly.
If you would like to receive the email sent to the auto-responder, you will need to set the Carbon Copy field to a recipient email address. If you set the carbon copy to the same address as the autoresponder, you will not receive the email. If you have a pop3 account by the same name as the auto-responder, set the CC to just the login name of that pop3 email account (Example: bob@domain.com email account has a login name of domaibob). Make sure the address you set is valid!

10. Why do some of my emails have '*****SPAM****' in the subject line? |
|
We have installed SpamAssassin in our mail server to help clients filter unwanted spam email. SpamAssassin only marks the email, once it has been scanned and goes over a certain rating that classifies it as spam. Refer to set filter rules in your inbox to avoid SPAM mails.

11. I am unable to login to my webmail |
|
Type the URL webmail.yourdomain.com. Check your username and password. The user name will be the first 5 characters of your domain + first 5 characters of your e-mail account name (eg. infosmail is the username for mail@infosoftme.com.). Passwords are case sensitive.

|
12. I am receiving lot of SPAM e-mails. Please help. |
|
All e-mail accounts are vulnerable for SPAM attack. Our mail server uses SPAMASSASSIN to scan for SPAM's. E-mails which seems like SPAM will be marked with a subject line *****SPAM*****. Some SPAM will still get by the filter, but that's normal, since there isn't a perfect spam filtering service in existence, as of yet. You can set up your filter rules in your inbox to delete SPAMs marked in the subject line. Refer ‘setting up filter rules' in your Inbox.

|
13. I am not able to receive e-mail. Why? |
|
Check your inbox sizes from Inbox size from Accounts in the Control Panel. If the total sizes of e-mail accounts are near to the server space (100 MB, 500 MB etc), you have to empty your Inboxes by deleting unwanted e-mails. E-mail may bounce back when someone sends mail to you.

|
14. How can change my username and password of my e-mail? |
|
You cannot change your username of your e-mail. It is default. Your username will be made by the first characters of your domain + first 5 characters of your e-mail account name. (Eg. If your domain is abcd.com and your email account is ali, your user name is abcdali). You can change your password by selecting change password option from Accounts in control panel.
